The University of Texas System (UT System) is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as the next President of the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas). Reporting to UT System Chancellor James B. Milliken, the President of UT Dallas serves as the Chief Executive Officer and will lead the development and implementation of goals and strategies to achieve the University’s mission.

UT Dallas is a young, agile public research university located in one of the nation’s largest, most vibrant metropolitan areas. As a part of the prestigious University of Texas System, UT Dallas offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs, including STEM fields, business, humanities, and social sciences. The University is committed to academic excellence, research innovation, and community engagement and is rapidly emerging as a leading research institution.

UT Dallas is recognized as one of the top public comprehensive research universities in Texas, ranked third by U.S. News and World Report, and is the top-ranked public university in North Texas. It is designated as a Carnegie R1 institution for “very high research activity” and offers 152 academic programs across seven schools.

UT Dallas’s enrollment of over 30,000 students includes more than 6,000 international students from over 130 countries. The campus boasts a vibrant and growing residential community, with 8,000 students living on or near campus. UT Dallas has a loyal alumni base of over 140,000, with the majority staying within the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The University's dynamic 645-acre campus is in Richardson, Texas, less than 17 miles from downtown Dallas. UT Dallas’s growth and momentum includes more than 2 million square feet of new construction in the last eight years. This includes the Edith and Peter O’Donnell Jr. Athenaeum, a new 12-acre campus cultural district. Phase I of the Athenaeum, including a second Dallas location for the Crow Museum of Asian Art, opened this fall. Phase II, scheduled to be completed in 2026, includes a performance hall and a planned museum for the traditional arts of the Americas. UT Dallas has become a national destination for arts scholars and patrons alike. 

As the UT System embarks on a search for the next President, the ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a proven track record of success in higher education administration and experience leading a similarly sized and complex institution. They will advocate for students, faculty, and staff while fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment with a commitment to shared governance. The candidate should have expertise in financial management, strategic planning, and transparent leadership, with a focus on building and retaining a strong leadership team and hiring exceptional faculty committed to excellence in research and teaching. As a skilled communicator and relationship builder, the next President will bring enthusiasm for fundraising and serve as the University’s key spokesperson. A terminal degree and experience are required.
