As a software engineer focusing on full-stack development at MITRE, you will provide systems engineering support to a variety of programs related to law enforcement, national intelligence, and government information systems. You will work on some of the most challenging technical and programmatic issues facing our federal sponsor located in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Operate as a technical contributor across several environments in support of both the Sponsor and MITRE.
  • Must be able to adapt to a quickly evolving technological environment, capable of becoming comfortable with new technologies and providing input on solutions to challenging technical issues and troubleshoot and debug applications to optimize performance.
  • Work location may include hybrid arrangements between MITRE and onsite with the Sponsor in Clarksburg, WV; some flexibility for hybrid work is given.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a foundational understanding of modern software development concepts, tools, and practices. Applicants must demonstrate a fundamental understanding with most of the following:

  • Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Hands-on development and deployment of software and scripts in a mostly Linux based environment.
  • Familiarity with messaging and queuing services (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ), Java based applications, web-based applications.
  • Use of DevOps and containerization tools such as Ansible and Docker.
  • Experience with programming and scripting languages such as Python, shell scripting, Java, C++.
  • Familiarity with database technologies like Postgres, MySQL, or MongoDB.
  • Understanding of version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to obtain TS Clearance is required.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.

Preferred Qualifications:

Exposure and expertise in the following areas is preferred but not required.

  • Familiarity with container orchestration technologies such as Docker Compose and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
  • Microsoft Windows Active Directory administration.
  • Experience with image and video processing tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with administration and use of AWS compute environments.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Previous internship or project experience in a related field.
  • Active TS Clearance.
