Position SummaryResponsible for management of the Illinois Small Business Development Program and administration of the Illinois Small Business Development Center Grant as part of the Workforce a Development Division.
Essential Job Functions and ResponsibilitiesManage day-to-day operations of the Illinois Small Business Development Center (ISBDC), utilizing a wide variety of management skills to serve diverse clienteleDevelop, plan and coordinate programs and activities consistent with the goals and objectives of the ISBDC Provide direction for center personnel, both consultants and clericalMaintain an effective local Board of Advisors for the ISBDCDevelop internal and external resources to accomplish program objectives including actively seeking additional funding sourcesProvide direct counseling and training or referrals of clients to appropriate sources as necessary Develop and manage center’s operational budgetResearch current issues associated with small business operation Plan and execute programming to address current changes to the business climate and relevant issues associated with operation of a small businessMaintain a current reference library and database as required by the ISBDC ProgramEstablish linkage and working relationships with other centers or small businesses that may provide additional resources to the centerMaintain current data on private sector consultants for referral to members of the small business communityMaintain client control records and management information systemPrepare timely and accurate reports to the SBA/ISBDCMaintain and analyze data on program effectivenessMaintain client confidentiality at all timesPromote the ISBDC and the needs of the small business communityEstablish a marketing plan that will allow for high visibility of the centerCoordinate and cultivate relationships with SCORE, local governments, local chambers of commerce, professional associations and economic development groupsRepresent small business development interests at appropriate community organizationsDevelop programming to address needs of small business ownersReport program performance to IL Department of Commerce and Economic DevelopmentWork collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilitiesSupport and participate in the College's commitment to continuous improvement Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisorRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Business, Economics or other relevant fieldFive years’ experience in small business management or business consultingTwo years of leadership experience either in directly managing employees or in a project management roleBudget and program management experiencePublic relations experience involving public contact and public speaking engagementsDemonstrated ability to get results within a team environment and foster productive working relationships at all levels of the organization-
