Daytime Circulation Manager (Library Supervisor) Tracking Code1071-674Job DescriptionManage and provide those services that are normally delivered at the Circulation and Media Desks, including circulation, reserves, equipment reservations, copy machine services, and routine shelving. Responsible for specific duties regarding building operations and security. Supervise circulation student assistants. Communicate with supervisor and co-workers regarding problems, policies, and procedures. Complete special projects as assigned. Major Responsibilities:
  • Library Supervisor CMDO2 (Circulation Manager Daily Operations, aka “Circulation Manager”) is the person primarily responsible for operational building scheduling and equipment; ILS circulation management; and departmental documentation, communication, inventory, accounting, and business-related activities.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Circulation and Media Desks.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate departmental student assistants, in conjunction with the other circulation managers.
  • Communicate with other Circulation Managers and solve routine problems associated with service activities. Communicate with supervisor and co-workers as needed regarding non-routine or recurring problems.
  • Recommend policies or procedures to Director of Access Services; assist the Director with all other departmental functions.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Some college education required. A Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Three years of experience in positions with management and supervisory duties in a public setting

  • Excellent computer skills
  • Must be able to lift and shelve books. Position requires lifting, bending, and stooping.
  • Some college education
