Position OverviewThe Office of Admissions reports to the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management which includes the following functional units: Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Student Information Systems and the Office of the University Registrar, Enrollment Management Communications and Graduate Enrollment Management.

The Office of Admissions is responsible for domestic and international undergraduate admissions for both freshman and transfer students. The Office of Admissions coordinates the overall recruitment strategy for KU including travel, on and off campus events, prospect data entry, application processing, and communications.
The CEI Ambassadors are an extension of the Office of Admissions Student Ambassador program. They are an integral part of supporting the office’s community outreach, group visit, and transfer recruitment efforts.

Please note, this is an on-campus, in-person position with specific hours.
Job Description75% - Recruitment of Students
  • Cultivate relationships with prospective students through email, postcards, calls, text, and other mailings.
  • Recognize prospective student affinity levels and determine communication delivery, timing and content to maximize communication effectiveness and influence enrollment behavior.
  • Track and monitor individual student funnel stages and overall funnel performance in order to inform and adjust recruitment strategies and tactics in response to funnel performance.
  • Assist with the development of a team CEI Rep recruitment plan.
  • Coordinates aspects of individual students’ visit to campus.
  • Initiates, plans, and executes special projects in conjunction with wide range of goals and objectives.
20% - Group Visit and Event Support
  • Provides support as assigned by the Assistant Director of Community Engagement Initiatives for groups visits and outreach events on- and off-campus.
  • Assists with the coordination of customized campus visits for groups.
  • Presents to groups during on-campus visits.
5% - Consults with the Assistant Director of Community Engagement Initiatives
  • Provides student-experience driven consultation for university recruitment strategies.
  • Assumes other responsibilities assigned by the Assistant Director, Associate Director or Director.
Required Qualifications
  1. Must be currently employed as a KU Student Ambassador in the Office of Admissions.
  2. Must be currently enrolled as a KU student.
  3. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
  4. Have good written and oral communication skills as evidenced by application materials.
  5. Maintain a cumulative and semester GPA of 2.0.

  1. Flexible schedule, dependable, and outgoing personality.Involvement in one or more on campus student organizations.Ability to work with various individuals.Enthusiasm to positively represent the University of Kansas on campus visits.Knowledge of University of Kansas programs and services.Ability to be well organized and possess good time management skills.
