Overview

This person is responsible for managing and directing the overall strategy and business operations of the Clean Energy Center. The Executive Director will have direct responsibility for managing functional areas within WD related to clean energy. This professional is part of the leadership team and responsible for guiding, monitoring, and leading a group within WD. Responsible for motivating and inspiring positive communication across WD so the teams work together toward achieving goals.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Master's Degree in directly related discipline, OR combination of educational training, work experience, and proven capacity to provide leadership in: clean energy workforce development initiatives and efficient cost-effective operation of an organizational unit. Required

EXPERIENCE

  • Three (3) years of experience in clean energy workforce development. Required
  • Five (5) years of administrative experience including successfully working with multi-disciplinary teams, managing/supervising multiple employees and complex projects. Required
  • Evidence of successful training and development experience with adult education. Required
  • Marketing/client development/advertising experience. Preferred
  • Teaching experience. Preferred
  • Valid Driver's License. Required

ResponsibilitiesCoach and supervise staff. Assume responsibility for the planning and management of the following functional areas: residential, commercial, solar, and building electrification programs, career exploration and workforce readiness initiatives, building science consultations and other initiatives as determined.Write proposals, generate grants and contracts, initiate invoicing procedures, and coordinate all activities associated with consulting or training for private companies, non-profit corporations, states, federal government or other entities.Develop budgets, timelines, and program abstracts for programs administered through the Center.Maintain budgetary accountability for all Clean Energy Center programs in conjunction with the Vice President.Maintain strong relationships and communication with leadership team within Workforce Development and with others across campus. Supervise non-credit instructors, consultants, and support staff under all programs administered by the Center.Manage national training program accreditation efforts and national certification testing capacity.Organize and participate in or preside over the Policy Advisory Council and committee meetings associated with the various programs administered through the Center.Manage the development and funding for the Center’s physical training infrastructure, including lab sites and training mock-ups.Work with computer programmers, graphic artists, and content area experts to produce or upgrade marketing tools, including educational interactive multimedia applications, program -Internet web sites, program brochures, or other marketing collateral.Manage contracts and work of instructional designers, consultants, technical experts, and instructional design staff to develop, deploy, and upgrade online courses, videos, and technical simulations for clients and industry.Manage relationships, contracts, and work of consultants, technical experts, and workforce partners to develop and deploy workforce projects to meet client and industry needs.Identify and secure all instructional materials, supplies, and equipment to be utilized in the Center programs and maintain inventory of same.Assist Vice President with the exploration of new business opportunities for the College related to education, consulting, or research in the field of clean energy.Continuously align departmental strategy, mission, goals, and objectives with Workforce Development and College-wide mission, goals and objectives.Provide leadership in the development of curriculum, authoring of technical manuals, and program updates under the Center.Maintain all student or client records associated with the Clean Energy Center in conjunction with the various funding sources.Develop instructional materials to be utilized in the Center's programs.Instruct noncredit courses or conduct seminars in various Clean Energy Center programs as determined by level of content area expertise.Physical Standards and Special Job FeaturesOccasional light-duty, physical work required for classroom and lab demonstrations.
