We are looking for an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) or Director of Pharmacy (DOP) to join a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital located in rural Northern California. This is an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist ready to take on a leadership role in a small, close-knit healthcare setting for a 13-week assignment (with the potential for extension). The position allows you to play a critical role in the hospitals pharmacy operations, overseeing patient care and pharmacy staff, while gaining valuable experience in a rural healthcare environment.

This role offers the unique challenge of managing a pharmacy department in a critical access facility, where your contributions will have a direct impact on the care of the local community. In addition to overseeing pharmacy operations, youll be working closely with other healthcare providers, helping to optimize patient care through medication management and clinical consultations. Job Title: Interim Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) / Director of Pharmacy (DOP)
Location: Rural Northern California (Critical Access Hospital)
Duration: ~13 weeks (Potential for Extension)
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: 4 days per week (10-hour shifts), Day Shifts

Key Responsibilities:

  • 90% Staffing: Perform key clinical duties such as order verification, supervising pharmacy technicians, and consulting with physicians and nurses to optimize medication therapy management.
  • 10% Administrative: Oversee pharmacy operations, including pharmacokinetics, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining quality patient care.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff to enhance the pharmacy's role in clinical care.

Ideal Candidate:

  • California Pharmacist License (Required)
  • Hospital pharmacy experience (Required)
  • Ability to work independently in a rural setting with limited resources
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to manage a small pharmacy team
  • Willingness to jump in and make a significant impact during a temporary vacancy
