Clery Compliance Liaison

The Office Of Security & Public Safety (OSPS) Clery Act & VAWA Administrator is a critical part of the OSPS Administration Services Team. The Clery Act & VAWA Administrator is responsible for the logistical oversite of LUPD compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1990 (Clery Act) and the Violence Against Women Act reauthorized in 2013 and 2022 (VAWA). The successful candidate will have extensive, comprehensive knowledge of the Clery Act, VAWA, the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), the Higher Education Act (HEA), and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines. This position will be responsible for coordinating OSPS compliance efforts with the Clery Act Coordinator in the Liberty University Office of Equity & Compliance. This position is required to ensure that all statistics reported to the Clery Act Coordinator from LUPD are correct and properly classified. This position works hand in hand with the Office of Equity & Compliance Clery Act Coordinator to ensure that Liberty University is fully compliance with the Clery Act and VAWA. This position does serve as a Campus Security Authority.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Reads and properly classifies all LUPD reports for proper statistical accuracy in accordance with the Clery Act and VAWA.
- Provides Logistical Insight to LUPD Leadership in the area of Clery Act and VAWA Compliance.
- Works Closely with the Clery Act Coordinator and the Office of Equity & Compliance
- Assists in the creation of OSPS Policies and Procedures to ensure the highest level of compliance with the Clery Act and VAWA.
- Works closely with the Department of Emergency Management & Community Engagement to ensure compliance with the Clery Act and VAWA.
- Create forms and documents as necessary to ensure efficiency in compliance with the Clery Act and VAWA.
- Other functions and responsibilities as deemed necessary by OSPS Leadership.
- Provides advice and recommendations on LU Alerts.
This position does not carry supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALSEducation, Experience and Qualifications- Working knowledge and understanding of the Clery Act, VAWA, HEOA, HEA and FERPA.
- Ability to work under considerable pressure and stress in emergency situations
- A clear and solid record of performance.
- Have no convictions for felonies or crimes of moral turpitude.
- Have no recent or prolonged use of Marijuana.
- Have no possession of any illegal drugs such as cocaine, heroin, LSD, etc.
- Be able to pass random drug testing to maintain employment.
- Possess excellent written, verbal, organizational and problem solving skills.
- Maintain a calm demeanor when dealing with the public.
- Possess strong skills in the use of computers, software and logistics.
- Demonstrated experience researching, gathering facts, comprehending legal documents, preparing reports, and interpreting policies and procedures.
- Must have the ability to process large volumes of work while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Must be able to interpret and apply complex policies and regulations, using strong communication and analytical skills as well as the ability to quickly adjust to shifting priorities.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and presenting training programs.
- Familiarity with Law Enforcement and security services as well as the Code of Virginia.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
- Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
- Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of the Liberty University Police Department.
- Possess strong organizational skills.
- Possess a propensity for discipline, proficiency, conduct, appearance and strict attention to detail.

- Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
- Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is primarily indoors in an office setting.
Driving RequirementsUse of the University’s vehicle may be required in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record and liability insurance is required.
