Overview - Biomechanical Research Scientist/Engineer

BlueHalo is currently seeking a Biomechanical Research Scientist (or Engineer, depending on experience and education) with a proven research background in biomechanical engineering, finite element modeling, & machine learning. In addition, you should have experience applying these methods for biomedical modeling applications such as exposure to blasts, lasers, and other environmental risks.

You’d like to do this

  • Be part of a team of engineers and scientists developing biomedical solutions
  • Develop algorithms and models for understanding the biomechanical effects of environmental exposures
  • Be responsible for the requirements generation, analysis, decomposition, and review with customers
  • Analyze user's requirements, concept of operations documents to develop system/subsystem requirements specifications
  • Be ready to learn and evaluate new technologies and work in new areas that require finite element analysis
  • Work with external APIs and data sources  
  • Test code for reliability, corner cases, and usability

You’re required to have this

  • You must be a US citizen
  • A master’s or PhD degree in Engineering or Physics
  • If a MS degree, then you must also have a minimum of 5 years of work experience
  • Expertise with ANSYS, LS-DYNA, CFX, FLUENT
  • Expertise with mechanical engineering structural modeling or fluid mechanics modeling
  • Research and development of new analytical methodologies to understand effects of military-related exposures
  • Strong programming background with Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar languages
  • Strong background in machine learning and statistical modeling
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to adapt to change based on project needs
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Modeling and simulation expertise with weapon systems and engineering analysis tools
  • Experience with military systems
  • Experience with DOD engineering research
  • Understanding of basic physiology concepts / aerospace physiology
  • An active Secret or Top-Secret DoD security clearance

Location

  • The ideal candidate would be local to our office in Rockville, MD, but we have some flexibility on work location.
