** Cover letter required for all positions and optional for facilities, campus services, and hospitality positions unless otherwise specified.Job Description SummaryThe Associate Director will assist the Associate Vice President of Inclusive Excellence in the management of a comprehensive portfolio of resources, support tools, consultation, training, and strategic alignment for Wake Forest staff, faculty, and students in the areas of diversity, inclusion, and equity. The Associate Director is an integral part of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and advancing inclusive excellence at Wake Forest University. The ideal candidate will employ a consultative and collaborative approach for working with campus partners to expand and sustain institutional capacity for intentional practices and policies that promote diversity, inclusion, and equity. In addition, this individual will facilitate appropriate consultative processes for inclusive excellence for Wake Forest students, faculty, and staff community.Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Supports the implementation of consultative processes to improve team, departmental, organizational, and institutional culture change, with a focus on student organization engagement and development.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates training related to inclusive excellence for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Supports the development of departmental/organizational inclusion plans.
  • Supports institutional engagement in ODI offerings to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Conducts research and in-depth analysis on diversity, equity, and inclusion topics related to higher education (i.e., benchmarks, metrics, and programs).
  • Communicates and works effectively with stakeholders (student groups, offices, academic departments, etc.) to ensure a high degree of transparency and to further develop strong collaborations, partnerships, and maximize input and opportunities for helpful insights.
  • Advises and coaches students, faculty and staff in group and individual settings on issues related to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
  • Strategically and intentionally engages in professional development opportunities within higher education and other industries to remain abreast of current trends in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Creates reports and presentations summarizing research findings, experience with data platforms or dashboards.
  • Assists with providing reports including periodic summaries of diversity, inclusion, and equity efforts.
  • Performs other related duties for Office of Diversity and Inclusion, as needed.
  • Supervise student employees.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge and application of program development, implementation, and evaluation processes.
  • Ability to conceptualize and develop consultative and work processes.
  • Demonstrable project management experience, knowledge, and facilitation skills around diversity, inclusion, equity, and cross-cultural communication.
  • Ability to research, collect, analyze, and interpret data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and demonstrate sound judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: listening, diplomacy, networking, developing partnerships, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies of diverse identities and backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate, build strong relationships, and align project work with the organization’s larger mission.
  • Proactively seek professional development opportunities to build competencies, keep relevant on trends and best practices in the field.
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures, or ability to acquire knowledge in a short period of time.
  • Ability to be a team player.
  • Skill in prioritizing workflow and managing resources.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work beyond the standard workday, including nights and weekends, for programs and special events.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Master’s degree in education, social sciences, or related field required.
  • Two to three years of experience working with diverse communities; developing and delivering consultative processes and effective training initiatives.

Accountabilities:

  • Supervisory Responsibility: Supervises graduate assistants, and student interns as needed.
  • Responsible for own work only.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work primarily involves sitting/standing; communicating with others to exchange information; repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers; and assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
