The TransportationManager establishes and maintains the smooth operation of theTransportation department at a McLane distributioncenter.

PREFERRED qualifications for thisposition include: Outbound transportation experience at adistribution center; experience using Trimble/PeopleNet or similartransportation management systems (TMS); prior positions thatoffered increasing responsibilitylevels.

ESSENTIAL JOBFUNCTIONS:
  • Assist withproviding 24-hour coverage.
  • Maintain a properlystaffed and trained department that offers the highest levels oflogistics support to the warehouse.
  • Plan,direct, and coordinate all delivery and backhaulactivities.
  • Drive key performance indicatorsfor cost savings.
  • Efficiently utilize manpowervia proper scheduling and training to provide the highest levels ofcustomer service at the store level.
  • Thisposition has additional duties; special projects may beassigned.

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS &REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor'sdegree in Business or a related field.
  • 5+ yearsexperience with all facets of outbound transportation; knowledge ofdistribution systems, including routing and backhaul/transferprocedures.
  • 4+ years of accounting, planning,analytical, and/or reporting experience; ability to identifyfinancial issues and provide cost-effectivesolutions.
  • Experience managing large numbers ofdriving staff; experience with hiring, training, and motivatingteammates and resolving employee relationsissues.
  • Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word,Access).
