Description

SAIC has an immediate opening on a prime contract for a motivated and self-driven Network Infrastructure Engineer In this role you will provide support to an exciting customer mission area. The successful candidate must be familiar with internet-based infrastructure procurement, creation, and operations and maintenance (O&M) of infrastructure through various means and methods. The individual must be able to keep detailed records of passwords and other resource information, and work with other members of the customer’s organization to meet specific requirements and mission needs. 

Tasks/Functions to be Performed:

  • Meet with customers to discuss infrastructure needs to support their mission activities
  • Spin up necessary infrastructure, configure it, pass it to the mission teams, then provide O&M support
  • Troubleshoot issues with the infrastructure related to current mission activities, and resolve issues identified
  • Meet with senior customers to discuss near and long-term changes to the infrastructure architecture that may be needed
  • Work with the procurement organization to communicate equipment needs for acquisition
  • Work with customer partners where network interconnections occur to ensure uninterrupted transfers of data

Qualifications

  • Must currently hold a TS/SCI and Poly clearance to be considered
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines and evolving priorities
  • Ability to create and innovate solutions in-house to address unique requirements
  • Experience working with cloud-based architectures (e.g. Amazon EC2, Microsoft Azure, etc)
  • Experience with account creation for internet-based computing resources
  • BS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or demonstrated equivalent experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals (e.g. OSI model and IP subnetting basics)
  • Experience using Linux, including command line and firewall configuration
  • Familiarization with virtualization and containerization techniques and technologies
  • Expert knowledge of Linux and/or UNIX file systems, permissions, feature sets, configurations, etc
  • Experience troubleshooting technical problems related to networking technologies
  • Working knowledge of network routing
  • Experience with network security appliances, VPNs and encryption fundamentals (e.g. Wireguard, OpenSSL, asymmetric cryptography)
  • Familiarization with data transport protocols/tools (e.g. SFTP, SMTP, HTTPS, Bit Torrent)
