Position Overview

Kiewit has an opening for a Commissioning Electrical Superintendent at one of our project locations in Boise, Idaho.

Our rapidly growing Industrial & Water Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused in markets such as Food & Beverage, Mineral Processing, Renewable Fuels, Pulp and Paper, Steel & Aluminum, Industrial Buildings, and Industrial Energy, Water and Utilities. 

Location

This successful candidate will be available to work at our project site in Boise, Idaho. There will also be travel to our other office locations.

Responsibilities
  • Hold and/or attend daily safety meetings.
  • Lead and insist on strict adherence to Lock-Out / Tag-Out Procedures (LOTO) and policies and perform daily LOTO checks as directed by LOTO authority.
  • Maintain operations logbook, implement operational procedures and handle shift coverage for operations.
  • Maintain strict control of all control room and field operation activities.
  • Review test procedures for component and system testing.
  • Understand and adhere to CSU administration manual.
  • Understand and adhere to all contractual requirements for completion, including permitting and EPA requirements.
  • Assist in coordinating initial energization, functional testing, and operation of plant systems.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate system problems by correcting or suggesting resolutions and providing a written report of results.
  • Track progress of assigned systems and provide operations management with timely reports on the progress and activities.
  • Coordinate and monitor original equipment manufacturers’ work that affects plant operations.
  • Maintain plant equipment in the highest state of readiness.
  • Perform construction process assessments during system walk-downs and identify exceptions and deficiencies.
  • Assist in commissioning and testing individual components, systems, and the station as a complete integrated unit to meet all contractual obligations.
  • Perform specific functions when designated by the CSU manager.
  • Analyze plant operational problems and solve by taking appropriate action.
Qualifications
  • More than 10 years in a Field Service Supervisor role with prior experience working in electrical training preferred.
  • More than 10 years in a Field Supervisor role, with prior experience managing Field Service Technicians at the project site.
  • Knowledge of plant operations with the minimum experience level of Superintendent.
  • Should possess strong math skills. Should be proficient in the use of MS Office Suite.
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of equipment and operations is preferred.
  • Able to lead, communicate and prioritize effectively during emergency situations.
  • Able to maintain situational awareness during emergency situations.
  • Able to complete all required initial and ongoing training and successfully pass written, verbal, and practical evaluations to maintain individual Operator Qualifications as required.
  • Ensure that contract-required training and screening elements for third party personnel have been met.
  • Must possess superior electronic and/or mechanical repair aptitude. 
  • Familiarity with microprocessor based circuitry and programming techniques. 
  • Leadership capability and good aptitude. 
  • Knowledge of various aspects of a Field Service.
  • Knowledge of Flow Measurement, Engineering practices, design methods & calculations.
  • Knowledge of PC, Windows, Office Software and IT implementation background.
  • Capable to Read, interpret & prepare applicable technical information. Control systems knowledge and maintenance of PLC and PC based control systems. 
  • Must experience with mechanical equipment like, pipelines, Valves, Pumps and other mechanical equipment with moving parts.
