Summary

The ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate experience monitoring, managing, administering, supervising and coordinating all Public Assistance activities under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act as amended and other disaster authorities.



Duties

What will I do in this position if hired?

In this position, you will serve as a Public Assistance Branch Chief and provide senior-level advice to the Regional Administrator (RA) and the Deputy Regional Administrator (DRA) on Recovery issues. Typical assignments include:

  • Interacting with the state emergency management directors and their senior staffs; providing updates on policy and procedure changes, feedback on operational issues, advising and counseling on declaration request preparation, and resolving conflicts that arise to the senior level.
  • Managing components of program(s) and activities during crisis response, including recovery activation and operations.
  • Ensuring assigned staff develops and implements emergency management standards, regulations, practices, training, and procedures to recover from hazards and threats; assures completed work adequately determines needed and available resources (e.g., technical expertise, equipment, and infrastructure) and capacities.
  • Managing emergency recovery activities focused on Public Assistance programs to ensure the timely provision of grants to restore public infrastructure to pre-disaster condition with appropriate and cost-effective mitigation.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders to build and improve capabilities necessary for Stafford Act program administration and recovery operations.
