Overview:

The Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Digital and Professional Services (D&PS) will establish the sales and marketing vision and drive execution to enable above budget growth for all services, including UNFI Media Network. This role will oversee and develop a highly engaged sales and marketing team, create, and enable sales and marketing processes, build strategic sales and marketing capabilities, develop, and execute sales and marketing plans, and drive a sales culture based on being a champion for our retailers. The Vice President Sales and Marketing is a key member of the D&PS leadership team and a cross functional leader who will collaborate effectively across D&PS, Wholesale, and Corporate Teams while also being accountable for EBITDA growth.

Job Responsibilities:

Sales Leadership and Execution 30%

Develop and execute sales vision to achieve EBITDA, Gross Profit, and customer growth metrics while staying within SG&A budget.

Drive retailer growth on UMN.

Allocate resources where investment has the highest payback and with initiatives of strategic importance.

Build a strong selling culture of accountability, results, and championing the retailer.

Where necessary, step into senior level conversations to build relationships and drive the results of the business.

Provide an active voice of the customer in D&PS strategic decisions.

Marketing Leadership and Execution 20%

Develop and execute the marketing vision to support sales and achieve EBITDA, Gross Profit, customer growth, and lead growth while staying within SG&A budget.

Develop and execute the marketing strategy for UNFI Media Network in close collaboration with business owners.

Build on traditional marketing tactics (i.e., email, trade shows) while maximizing impact of digital capabilities (i.e., websites).

Align marketing calendar and selling priorities against highest return efforts.

Sales and Marketing Process Development 20%

Understand, document, optimize, and enable the selling process across direct sellers and specialists across D&PS departments.

Partner with operations team to enable reporting, metrics, and KPIs for sales and marketing.

Continuously improve processes to reduce costs and increase wins and customer lifetime value.

Bring sales and marketing innovation and best practices from other comparable industries to UNFI D&PS.

Influences and Leads Strong Relationships Internally 20%

Build partnerships withing D&PS at the VP and Director level; understand the business and enable the success of the total organization.

Work closely with wholesale VPs and RPs to align, support, and execute national, regional, and customer-level sales and marketing actions.

Work with corporate functions, like Marketing and Finance, to enable D&PS sales and marketing vision communicate effectively and develop key relationships.

Develop Talent- 10%

Performance management - drive performance metrics while motivating and engaging team.

Provide coaching and feedback to develop in role and build career growth.

Invest in new skills and capabilities for self and team to enable long term goals.

Job Requirements:

Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:

Bachelor s degree strongly preferred.

MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

Experience:

10+ years of sales and marketing experience or equivalent.

7+ years of people management experience.

Experience in developing and carrying out business plans, sales plans, and commission programs.

Working knowledge of sales forecasting, programs, promotions, and related techniques.

Working knowledge of Profit and Loss Statements and ability to use financial metrics to drive decisions making.

Experience participating in or leading a significant change initiative (e.g., standardization or consolidation project, key region initiative, acquisition, merger, startup) and managing across disciplines, functions, or other organizational boundaries.

Experience recruiting, managing, retaining, and developing current and future leaders in the organization.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Working experience in Grocery, Retail, and/or Business Services strongly preferred.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

Strong leadership and management skills.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Ability to interact at all levels of business.

Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects and teams.

Demonstrated ability to drive new business and close sales.

Strong collaborative, innovative, leading change, strategic skills, and commitment to company vision.

Must possess excellent organizational and supervisory skills and can manage large numbers of employees effectively.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS:

Some travel may be required up to 25% travel.

Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.

Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment during the normal workday.

Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
