Detailed Job Description

We are seeking a lecturer that will contribute to the academic mission of NTID and will be responsible for course preparations, formal classroom and lab teaching, and new lecture and lab course development in one or more of the following areas:
Local Computing
Cloud Computing
Networking
System Administration
Cybersecurity
Internet of Things
The lecturer will also be responsible for student mentoring and contributing to the advancement of NTID through service assignments. They will engage in professional growth through activities such as further study, creative projects, and active participation in professional societies.

Department/College Description

NTID, one of the nine colleges of RIT, is the world’s largest technological college serving deaf and hard of hearing students. Created by Congress and funded by the U.S. Department of Education, it represents the world’s first effort to educate large numbers of deaf students within a college campus planned primarily for hearing students. Together with 15,000 full and part-time students, over 1,300 college-age deaf students from all 50 states and abroad study and reside on the campus of the Rochester Institute of Technology.

The Information & Computing Studies Department offers courses within our three associates’ degree programs to undergraduates students. The department serves deaf and hard of hearing students enrolled in baccalaureate degree programs with support services (tutoring) at Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences at RIT.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, information technology, computer science or related and a minimum 5 years professional relevant experience. The successful candidate who has not completed an MS degree in any of the aforementioned fields will be expected to complete one within four years after employment starts.
Demonstrated excellence and expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Computer Hardware
Networking
System Administration
Cybersecurity
Internet of Things
Demonstrated teaching experience, particularly with deaf and hard of hearing students
Proficient in ASL and deaf culture.
Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism and individual differences.
