Duties

Assist the Chief, Publishing Division, in such areas as management, program analysis, and development and implementation of policy governing the Army Publishing Directorate's (APD) Administrative Publications Program. Coordinate policy implementation within APD and monitors/analyzes production to ensure compliance with policy, procedures, and organizational goals. Evaluate the effectiveness of established policies, the efficiency of operations, and identify any other key contributing factors that serve to generate the problem or issue. Use a high degree of analytical ability, extensive knowledge and understanding of publications requirements, to assess existing programs and determine the need for change. Implement publishing operations for unclassified and classified departmental administrative publications and other selected departmental products and documents. Assure effective interaction between the Agency staff in the accomplishment of mutual objectives. Set and adjust work priorities and review work schedules and objectives to optimize performance and accomplish work mission requirements. Utilize current and future information technology solutions to improve the publishing process.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. You may be expected to travel up to 5% for this position. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. One-year supervisory probationary period may be required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.

One year of specialized experience which includes plan, coordinate or manage projects related to supporting organizations publishing program; provide advice to staff on laws, regulations or policies associated to publishing program; and evaluate effectiveness of established policies or efficiency of department's staff or operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
