Vay is the first company that has driven a car on European public roads with no one inside. Vay is the leading teledriving company setting the global standard for remotely driven vehicles. Vay aims to launch a safe, affordable, and sustainable door-to-door mobility service in the US, Germany and beyond. With its first service, Vay plans to remotely deliver and return electric cars for its customers.

The role:

As US Production Manager, you will be responsible for bringing up, releasing, and maintaining all new vehicles, Teledrive Stations, and Teledrive Centers requested in the US. 

You will manage and coordinate a team of internal and external vehicle technicians responsible for the assembly and integration of our Vay System in our vehicle and Teledrive Station fleet. You will also be managing a team of maintenance technicians, Technical Support Engineers, and Testing Operators, responsible for the maintenance, diagnostic, and repair of systems. 

You will be accountable for production team efficiency and performance, as for the readiness of our fleet of vehicles and teledrive stations, ensuring permanent safety and quality standards.

You will work closely with our operations team in LAS and our Production team in Europe as our technical program managers to plan, organize, and execute the work.

The responsibilities:

Production of new vehicles and teledrive stations

  • Assembly, integration, and maintenance of the Vay System hardware and software into our fleet of vehicles and teledrive stations
  • Define Strategy in-house/ outsource for the bring-up of new vehicles and teledrive station requests
  • Coordinate, working closely with our Production Team in Europe, all activities required to deliver new cars and teledrive stations in US

Ordinary and Extraordinary Maintenance of Commercial Fleet: 

  • Coordinate internal and extraordinary inspections, maintenance, and repairs of vehicles and telestations for safe on-road usage
  • Make sure required documentation for the release and maintenance of vehicles, telestations, and tele-driving hardware is fulfilled and updated
  • Be the contact person for third parties, scheduling and coordinating external vehicle maintenance processes or service requests involving the vehicle technicians' team
  • Sync with Commercial Operations teams to ensure all vehicles and teledrive stations are in a “ready” state for demonstration, testing, and commercial requirements

Workshop Up-Keeping

  • Maintain workshop space to a high professional level in terms of safety, efficiency, tidiness, and cleanliness
  • Workshop layout optimization and make sure production processes are followed
  • Propose and introduce continuous improvement measures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the team
  • Be an advocate for quality and safety in the workplace

Management of team

  • Manage and monitor all key performance indicators within the team to ensure efficiency and performance
  • Inspire our team to deliver outstanding work and service that sets very high standards
  • Independently conduct regular performance and feedback meetings to promote employee development
  • Organizing working hours, substitution arrangements, and coordinating vacation and sick leave, where you demonstrate organizational skills
  • Recruitment and management of employees
  • Training of new technicians and managing flexibility matrix and skills development, training programs of the team
