Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.



Duties

**This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2024. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be May 10, 2024 with subsequent cut-off dates every 2 weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available.**

Work Schedule: Schedule will be discussed with Supervisor
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

VA Northern California Health Care System is looking for a Rheumatologist to join our team at the Martinez VA Outpatient Clinic. The Staff Rheumatologist is responsible for:

Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Directs patient care in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of diseases of adult patients presenting with illnesses related to Rheumatologic conditions.
  • Provides evaluation and ongoing care management for patients with a wide variety of Rheumatologic conditions using various modalities of care (e.g. VA Video Connect, Telephone, E-consult).
    • Inpatient Rheumatology consults and follow-up for our patients in the Community Living Center (CLC) and Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care (CREC)
    • Outpatient Rheumatology consults and follow-up
  • Performance of Rheumatology procedures.
  • Ordering of diagnostic imaging studies and labs.
  • Participating actively in performance improvement and attending assigned meetings or process action teams.
  • Management of patients requiring biologics and IV bisphosphonates
  • Reviews no-shows, contacting patients for abnormal lab tests, review of requests for refills.
