This role qualifies for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a reimbursement initiative for student loan payments. Candidates must fulfill specific eligibility criteria in accordance with VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Essential Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not feasible to recruit qualified citizens as per VA Policy.
- Medical degree or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery.
- Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program.
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English.
Additional Requirement: Board Certification in Family or Internal Medicine and Rheumatology.
Physical Requirements: Candidates must meet the physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to placement is mandatory. This is a designated drug testing position. Requires lifting 15-44 pounds; pushing (approximately 2 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers and both hands; walking and standing for 3-5 hours and kneeling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
- Diagnose and treat conditions related to Rheumatology.
- Manage ongoing care for patients with various Rheumatologic conditions.
- Conduct inpatient Rheumatology consultations and follow-ups.
- Perform outpatient Rheumatology consultations and follow-ups.
- Execute Rheumatology procedures.
- Order diagnostic imaging studies and laboratory tests.
- Engage in performance improvement initiatives and attend assigned meetings.
- Manage patients requiring biologics and IV bisphosphonates.
- Review missed appointments and contact patients regarding abnormal lab results.
Work Schedule: Schedule will be discussed with Supervisor.
