We are looking for an Accountant  reporting directly to the local Finance Manager, who will provide general accounting and analytical support for the St. Peter manufacturing site. Job Requirements:

  • Must reside in Minnesota. Position is not eligible for relocation.  

  • Position requires to be onsite 3x per week. 

  • Position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Position requires work authorization

 

YOU’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Participate in the monthly and quarterly closing processes by completing all required reports and documents within the month and quarter-end deadlines. 

  • Create and enter journal entries into the system for a limited number of accounts under your responsibility.

  • Perform the financial analysis of a limited number of accounts within your responsibilities such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, intercompany accounts and bank reconciliations.

  • Assist the finance manager by playing an active role in the monthly financial reporting activities by preparing, analyzing and summarizing results.

  • Develop an understanding of the ERP and financial system (Distribution Plus) by understanding its functionality, its interconnection with the manufacturing operations, and interpreting the data. 

  • Track costs and profitability.

  • Assist in Internal Control for generally accepted accounting principles and business activities.

  • Assessing gaps and opportunities to improve efficiency in order to make process improvements.

  • Participate in various “ad hoc” projects, as assigned,  ensuring their contribution to the Marine Group’s financial objectives. 

 

YOU’LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field with 1+ years of experience or other equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 5 years in relation to the role.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills: Create spreadsheets with formulas, pivot tables, extract data and summarize in excel.

  • Month-end close process or journal entries.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage priorities.

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, rigor and ability to work independently.

  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization, gaining trust of employees, peers and management.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with CRM/ERP systems.

  • Experience working in the manufacturing industry.

  • Experience with reconciling general ledger accounts
