WHAT YOU'LL DO
BCG’s Knowledge Team (KT) is a key pillar across BCG’s circa twenty global Industry and Functional Practice businesses. KT is a billable, expertise-based, professional services organization. KT plays diverse roles ranging from being staffed in client case teams alongside consulting and other professional services staff, to developing and managing IP specific to functional topic or industry sector-based businesses.

Topic Activation (TA) KT are responsible for developing and deploying content expertise, on specific industries, or functional topics. Highly specialized, they are responsible for creating and enriching BCG's expertise, intellectual property (IP), products and tools, and providing expertise to our consultants, on an ad-hoc basis, as well as through deeper engagements in client or internal projects.

As a Topic Activation (TA) KT Talent Senior Manager you will work predominantly with TA KT Managers, supporting them with their leadership and team development needs. You will offer them 1:1 coaching, mentoring and thought partnership to enable them to be successful in the KT ‘player coach’ model.

You will also help Managers assess and identify developmental needs with their team members and recommend actions to address those needs, teaming with other teams within BCG including KT Learning & Development and other parts of the People Management Team (PMT). You will also, on some occasions, team with KT Managers to provide direct developmental support and career advisory to their team members.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide development support to TA KT Managers

  • Support TA KT Managers in their individual development; offering 1:1 coaching, mentoring and thought partnership related to their Leadership, commercial and team development objectives
  • Work with TA KT Managers in assessing the developmental needs of their team members, advising on KT competency gaps and skills to accelerate their career progression
  • Advise TA KT Managers on skills gaps and learning needs, defining solutions with KT Managers, KT Learning & Development and other BCG capabilities
Provide career growth support to TA KT Managers and staff:
  • Build and maintain relationships with TA KT Managers (primarily) and staff (occasionally) to understand their background and career professional aspirations
  • Advise on available learning resources, aligned with developmental needs and career trajectory
  • Explore and suggest other developmental actions such as case staffing, external exposure, networking, senior stakeholder engagement, etc.
  • Coach and guide TA KT throughout their career lifecycle on options and opportunities (potential moves to Client Focus KT career path, or to other roles within BCG etc.); act as a trusted advisor to guide individuals to outcomes beneficial to the individual and the business
Advise KT Managers on Career Development (CD) activities:
  • Provide guidance to TA KT Managers on Career Development activities e.g. help them interpret feedback and advise on developmental implications for themselves and their team
  • Provide guidance and quality assurance (where requested) to KT Managers on individual CD dossiers, ensuring best practice and clear messaging to individuals
Deliver insight to KT Leadership and People Management Team
  • Provide visibility to KT business leadership, KT HR Leadership and KT Learning & Development about KT TA developmental needs; recognize patterns, so that offers are adapted and enhanced accordingly
  • Work with KT HR, KT Learning & Development and Career Development teams to determine broader needs around learning, expertise building, and career growth
  • When identifying employee relations issues, partner with Regional HR and KT Managers to address and resolve

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
  • 8-10+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced Degree (Masters, MBA, JD, PhD, etc.) preferred
  • Deep understanding of the consulting business is required
  • Experience having delivered billable professional services, ideally in an expertise-based consulting team or organization, is highly desirable
  • Strong interest and some experience in professional/leadership development
  • Strong interest and experience in coaching
  • Experience in Consulting, a Knowledge function, or other client-facing roles is a plus
  • Fluent in English
YOU'LL WORK WITH
You will work under the guidance of KT and HR/CD leaders, who will help defining your own priorities, and collect your views and insights about TA (Topic Activation) KT developmental needs. You will be a key interface to TA KT members, you will advise on developmental needs and career options. You will work jointly with KT Managers, so that accurate developmental actions are defined and executed. You will work closely with the KT Learning Manager, to define and leverage learning options addressing both holistic and individual development needs. You will also collaborate with our CD (Career Development) Managers and Specialists (contributing to CD dossiers, advising about career progression, etc.), and HR professionals.

Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, contributions to BCG’s Profit Sharing and Retirement Fund (PSRF), and a market leading benefits package described below.
