Position Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Systems Engineer - Mission Planning for the Human Landing System (HLS) and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the Advanced Projects section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

We are seeking someone with a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to owning their work, and providing superior quality. Someone in this role would typically have a bachelorâs degree in engineering and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience.  This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.
**International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available** 

Duties & Responsibilities  

SOME OF YOUR MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

⢠Develop concepts and define future human space exploration vehicles and missions and Mars surface exploration campaigns and future long term Mars surface missions will also be studied and developed
⢠Develop and evolve conceptual vehicles by working with multi discipline teams in a highly collaborative environment.
⢠Work on architecture definitions and functional flows.
⢠Work on requirements definition, flow-down, assessment.
⢠Work on trade studies and stakeholder reviews.
⢠Summarize architecture study/trade study outcomes and present recommendations to NASA leadership.
⢠Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and issues and for support.
⢠Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors.
⢠Perform other duties as required.

 

Qualifications  

REQUIRED 


⢠Bachelorâs degree in engineering or a closely related field and a minimum of five (5) years of experience. 
⢠Experience with requirements development, design trades, development of Concept of Operations, risk analysis, and  system analysis of space hardware.
⢠Experience creating concepts for operations of single vehicle systems as well as operations across multiple space  vehicles.
⢠Experience with technology roadmap development and creating technology infusion plans.
⢠Experience collecting/understanding stakeholder needs.
⢠Experience with interface definition for vehicle subsystems.
⢠Experience with interface definitions between multiple vehicles or elements of a mission.
⢠Experience creating configuration growth or evolution plans and defining incremental capabilities for a mission  sequence.
⢠Ability to define mission sequences both within a single mission and across multiple missions.
⢠Experience with Test and Verification of spaceflight hardware.
⢠Knowledge of systems engineering principles and associated documentation.

PREFERRED 


⢠Electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering degree.
⢠Experience working with multiple NASA organizations.
⢠Experience working across NASA centers.
⢠Experience with hardware or software development projects.
⢠Experience with space mission analysis (e.g., orbit analysis, delta-V budgets, spacecraft constraint evaluation).
⢠Familiarity with human space exploration systems (for example Orion, Commercial Crew, ISS, EMU/xEMU).
⢠Basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as  mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection for engineering products.
⢠INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification.
⢠Familiarity with system architecture tools such as DoDAF, TODAF, etc.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency maybe a requirement for this position.
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
