Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required.

This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-11. At the GS-9 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-11. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds. Promotion is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied.


Major Duties:


Utilize knowledge of scientific principles, methods, and processes used to conduct systematic and objective inquiry; including study design, collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; and the reporting of results.
Apply analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of issues or problems of a procedural or factual nature in applying Federal, State and VA laws, rules, and regulations relative to compliance and the conduct of investigative studies involving human subjects, animal study research, research safety and security, and research information security.
Use qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques such as: literature search; work measurement; task analysis and job structuring; productivity charting; determining staff to workload ratios; organization design; development and administration of questionnaires; flowcharting of work processes; graphing; and calculation of means, modes, standard deviations, or similar statistical measures.
Correspond and manage data via Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel for word processing, communications, data manipulation and data storage aspects of responsibilities.
Plan, coordinate, and carry out the successive steps in fact-finding and analysis of issues necessary to complete each phase of assigned projects.
