Position Overview:

· The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner (CNP) serves as a key member of the Cardiology team, providing advanced practice care to patients with cardiovascular conditions. The CNP is responsible for managing the day-to-day cardiology needs of patients, including performing stress tests, managing chronic cardiovascular diseases, and providing comprehensive cardiovascular care. The CNP will work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care and optimize patient outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Care:
· Conduct comprehensive cardiovascular assessments, including history and physical examinations.
· Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests related to cardiovascular health, such as EKGs and stress tests.
· Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with cardiovascular conditions.
· Manage chronic cardiovascular diseases, including hypertension, heart failure, and coronary artery disease.
· Provide patient education on disease prevention, medication management, and lifestyle modifications.

2. Coordination of Care:
· Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care for cardiology patients.
· Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers or specialists as needed.
· Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and treatment plans.

3. Patient Education:
· Educate patients and families about cardiovascular conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
· Provide counseling on smoking cessation, diet, exercise, and other lifestyle changes that can improve cardiovascular health.

4. Documentation and Compliance:
· Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in compliance with VA policies and procedures.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including those set forth by the VA and other accrediting bodies.

5. Professional Development:
· Engage in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain current knowledge and competencies in cardiology practice.
· Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and protocols.

C. Qualifications:

· Education: Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution with a focus on Cardiology or related field.
· Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner.
· Certification: Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally recognized certifying body in the relevant field.
· Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in cardiology or related field is preferred.
· Skills: Demonstrated expertise in cardiovascular assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Strong communication, collaboration, and patient education skills.

D. Work Environment:
· The Cardiology CNP will work primarily in an outpatient clinic setting, with occasional responsibilities in inpatient care. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30-4:00
ADHOC: May be authorize (Employee who Telework on an occasional, episodic, or short-term, and have completed required telework training and telework agreement). This is not a virtual position.
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of annual paid time offer per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
