Description:
The 5th Space Launch Squadron (5 SLS) is currently seeking a Full-Time Facility Operations Specialist. This Cape Canaveral position is an amazing opportunity to be at the cutting edge of spaceflight. Looking for a self-starter (non-supervisory) to manage and oversee facility operations, maintenance, repair, improvement, renovation, and construction.
Responsibilities include:
Develops annual and long-range facility master plan to forecast and secure funding for projects
Oversees facility management resources including personnel, service contracts, financial programs, space utilization, and information resources
Manages preventive maintenance, repair, and construction work to sustain safe and reliable operation of facilities.
Implements and evaluates programs to manage safety risk within the organization, fire safety risks, facility response to emergencies, and to manage risks associated with hazardous materials and waste
Implements Physical Security/Antiterrorism Program for the organization


Ideal Candidate:
Background in facility management, civil engineering, or closely related field.
Comprehensive knowledge of a range of principles, concepts, and practices concerning complex technical requirements for facilities and equipment.
Knowledge of facility management methods, policies, and procedures for the planning, directing, and managing the operation, maintenance, repair, improvement, renovation, and construction of facilities and related systems, equipment, and services.
Skill to determine deficiencies and prepare complete documentation for new construction or repair and alteration projects.
Experience in reading and interpreting paper- or computer-based engineering drawings and schematic diagrams, and to using automated systems to retrieve, maintain, and update documents and records.
Ability to leverage knowledge of required security programs, procedures and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs.
Ability to leverage organizational security concepts, principles, and practices to implement security procedures within the organization
Basic knowledge of Air Force budgeting principles, concepts, and practices. Ability to understand and apply knowledge of contracting regulations, practices, procedures.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, valid driver's license, and lift at least 45 lbs.



Key Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge in applying analytical and evaluative principles, concepts, methods and techniques in order evaluate program goals and objectives, resources required and expended for current and out-year programs and to identify and resolve issues or problems concerning efficiency and effectiveness of program operations. Knowledge and skill to gather, assemble, and analyze facts, draw conclusions, devise solutions to highly technical problems, and identify changes and trends. Knowledge and skill in

applying complex analytical techniques and methodologies for problem solving, including the ability to conduct extensive analysis.



4. Knowledge of required security programs, procedures and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs. Knowledge of security concepts, principles, and practices to implement security procedures within the organization.



5. Knowledge of basic Air Force budgeting principles, concepts, and practices. Ability to understand and apply knowledge of contracting regulations, practices, procedures.



6. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately. Ability to analyze complex data and effectively present it in management reviews. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
