The incumbent is the Social Work Supervisor of the CHOS program. The incumbent has significant personnel management responsibilities for the professional social work and interdisciplinary staff members assigned to the CHOS program. The incumbent is responsible for the professional and administrative management of social work services provided in the breadth of CHOS programs. Duties will include:
Assists in planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures; developing individual or group goals and objectives as well as monitoring, operating, evaluating, coordinating and overseeing the social work and interdisciplinary staff of the CHOS program.
Ensures the staff supervised are aware of and adhere to all current directives of VHA, and meet current Joint Commission Standards, state licensure standards, and VA-OPG expectations, as well as CARF accreditation standards. The incumbent will conduct ongoing intensive reviews and appraisals to ensure the accomplishment of objectives and adherence to standards set by governing bodies.
Will develop, enhance, and track new initiatives, monitor their effectiveness, and modify as needed to meet the program needs.
Supervises a large group of Social Work Supervisors (GS-12), Senior Social Workers (GS-12), Social Work Coordinators (GS-12), Social Workers GS-11, and interdisciplinary staff, both clinical and non-clinical.
Provides administrative, technical, and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the program.
Works collaboratively with a broad range of community partners including 12 Public Housing Authorities in a large geographic area covering most of Western Washington.
Implements programmatic changes to ensure the needs of Veterans are met, maintaining high standards.
Performs the administrative and personnel management functions relative to staff supervised.
Assigns work, establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff, and communicates with them through the formal employee performance management system.
Observes workers' performance and demonstrates and conducts work performance critiques.
Responsible for program-wide reviews of the treatment planning process and appropriate social work documentation including disaster planning for CHOS clients.
Works with CHOS Supervisory Administrative Specialist to manage CHOS Fund Control Points, spreadsheets, HUD/VASH voucher distribution, and outreach efforts across the Puget Sound region.
Works closely with budget to manage CHOS budget and travel allocations.
Provides informal feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. The incumbent works to resolve informal complaints and grievances and develop process and procedures for handling complaints in all areas of Puget Sound.
Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary.
Provides advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters.
Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area.
Reviews and approves or disapproves leave requests. Incumbent assures that subordinates are trained and fully comply with the provisions of the safety regulations and HUD/VASH national guidelines.

Works with program supervisors to ensure that service provision to all Veterans referred to CHOS are consistent with Joint Commission and CARF standards.
Reviews the agreements between Section-8 landlords, HUD, and the VA to establish appropriate referral sites for project-based and/or tenant-based placements.
Develops and maintains service delivery systems for homeless Veterans including but not limited to collaborating with other agencies, building and maintaining effective treatment teams, and providing structure and documentation to accomplish these tasks.
