Recursion is at the forefront of reimagining drug discovery through the integration of automated cell biology, high-dimensional and diverse data sets, and sophisticated analytics. We are seeking a Discovery Toxicologist who can work with the early project teams to provide scientific expertise and leadership for the safety assessment of Recursion programs from early discovery, through to candidate selection and beyond. You will contribute to the assessment and selection of novel drug targets and the optimisation of novel candidate molecules using innovative molecular, cellular and in vivo technologies to enhance the safety profile of our development candidates. In this role, you will:
Implement innovative experimental or computational strategies using multi-dimensional data to assess and/or provide mechanistic understanding of safety issues. Adapt and apply toxicology screening strategies to predict, assess and mitigate on-target, off-target and other drug-related safety risks in support of the drug discovery portfolio. Provide subject matter expertise on cross-functional project teams within the discovery organization with an opportunity to oversee the preclinical safety strategy in development as projects progress. Act as a key resource for early safety assessment during the discovery phase, providing scientific knowledge and expertise to cross-functional project teams. Collaborate with CROs to ensure best practice for in vitro and/or in vivo safety assessment.Partner with the project teams to develop optimal strategies to address specific safety issues within project teams. Provide verbal and written summaries for internal discussions. Present summary data to project teams, senior leadership and external partners as needed.
Location:
Making Salt Lake City or Milpitas your home base is ideal, however, we will consider remote work for this position. We ask that remote employees commit to regular on-site visits for routine work and departmental events.
The Team You’ll Join
Reporting to the Vice President of Toxicology you’ll be joining a dynamic toxicology team that works across the portfolio to guide projects through the various stages of discovery and development. This high performing team will work together to continually improve our workflows to drive towards greater efficiency and automation.
The Experience You’ll Need
DVM, Pharm D, Ph.D in toxicology, Pathology, Physiology, Biochemistry or expertise in related biological scientific disciplines with 5+ years’ experience in safety sciences in the Biotech/Pharma industry. Experience in project team membership as a Discovery toxicology representative in a matrix environment. Broad background in novel methods of identifying potential toxicities including computational and in vitro approaches for safety assessment leading to an in-depth knowledge of discovery toxicology. An understanding of in vitro to in vivo translation of potential toxicities and implications for human safety along with experience running and interpreting in vivo safety studies. Highly motivated scientist, who can work independently, with excellent oral/written communication skills. Knowledge of secondary pharmacology assessment and mitigation of identified risks Keen interest in artificial intelligence and its application to drug discovery. Experience with the use of AI-tools to predict toxicology endpoints.How You’ll be Supported

At Recursion, we believe that every employee should be compensated fairly. Based on the skill and level of experience required for this role, the estimated current annual base range for this role is:
Developing: $195,000 Skilled: $216,000 Expert: $239,000To learn more about our level within levels, clickhere.
You will also be eligible for bonuses and equity compensation + our comprehensive benefits package for United States based candidates. The range displayed on each job posting reflects target ranges for US new hire salaries and is determined by job, level, and market factors.
