The Fredericksburg Healthcare Center (FxHCC) is scheduled to open in March of 2025. Those hired for these positions will be required to work at the VA Medical Center or one of the other CBOCs (management determination based on need) until the Fredericksburg Healthcare Center (FxHCC) opens.

The Psychiatrist will serve as the Fredericksburg Health Care Center (FxHCC) Mental Health Service Chief. This position reports directly to the Director of Clinical Services of Fredericksburg Health Care Center (FxHCC) and expected to work closely in conjunction with the parent facility's, Richmond VAMC, Mental Health leadership to ensure collaboration and alignment to reach collective goals of Central Virginia VA Health Care System
(CVHCS).

Duties May Include:
Directs all activities of the MHS including budget and fiscal management; oversight of hiring decisions, employee relations decisions, and performance evaluations; strategic planning, and program management and evaluation, assuring that the clinical and administrative functions are integrated to provide optimum utilization of resources. Participates in management discussions, decisions, and policymaking.
Provides program direction to the managers and assigned personnel within the MHS.
Serves as a member of facility- and VISN-level committees such as the facility Medical Executive Committee, the Health Care Delivery Executive Council, and the VISN 6 Mental Health Integrated Community Council.
Actively participates in the development of overall management objectives necessary for the attainment of optimum efficiency in providing health care of the veteran population.
Manages a large, diverse section that provides health care services central to the mission of the FxHCC.
Formulates policies and operating procedures ensuring compliance with VA regulations, statutes, and the standards of requirements of internal and external reviews and accrediting bodies.
Maintains close liaison with CVHCS MH Leadership, managers and FxHCC senior leadership.
Conducts and directs special studies and analyses of complex problems relating to FxHCC staffing requirements, equipment utilization, organization alignment, and other areas of concern to the leadership team.
Manages quality assurance, practices Performance Improvement, and ensures improvement activities are ongoing for all programs in the MHS.
Ensures compliance throughout the MHS with relevant accrediting organizational standards delineated from accrediting organizations.
Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of existing mental health programs in meeting established program goals and objectives.
Develops plans for organizational changes accordingly.
Thoroughly evaluates proposed program changes, operating procedures, and delegations of authority to ascertain impact on current program operations and FxHCC operations.
Will perform all other duties as assigned.

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) Authorized:
This position is eligible for EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of your start date. Pay:
Education and length of practice are considered through a formal pay-setting process to determine the final compensable salary (Base Pay + Market Pay)


Paid Time Off:
50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)


Retirement:
Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA


Insurance:
Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)


Licensure:
1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory


CME:
Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)

Contract:
No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting


Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
