Kumiko is in search of a hospitality professional to perform service support duties including running beverage and food, clearing and resetting tables, table maintenance, back waiting, and overall playing a critical role in maintaining the high level of warm and elegant service that Kumiko is known for.

We offer both a la carte menus as well as an 11 course tasting menu. Fine dining experience is required.

This person will also be trained to cover and support at the host stand for a well-rounded front of house experience. The ideal candidate has hospitality experience, knowledge of spirits and cocktails, an eye for detail, high standards of excellence, and the desire to learn and grow with a team of like-minded professionals.   We are open from 6 pm to 12 am Wednesday - Sunday, and are hiring for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with room to add on more shifts and further server training for the right person.

Job Summary

The Back Server is one of the most important positions at Kumiko. You are responsible for supporting the front servers and bartenders as they guide each guest’s experience. You will anticipate the needs of your teammates as well as those of the guest. The Back Server at Kumiko is gracious, thoughtful, focused, and intimately aware of their surroundings. You are accommodating and never make anyone feel ashamed or anxious, be it guest or coworker. You are organized, efficient, and are able to prioritize so that each necessary task is completed in a timely and proper manner.

Key Accountabilities

Supports the bartenders and servers by running food, clearing tables and the bar, and stocking the stations as needed. Has full understanding of ingredients in cocktails and dishes. Works with the bartenders and servers to maintain the flow of the tasting menu. Washing and polishing glassware. Comfortable with runninng a dishwashing machine as well as handwashing. Assists with answering the phone, checking coats, and seating reservations. Able to handle extremely delicate glassware with care and confidence. Support in restocking the bar during service/refilling ice wells. Keeps each table clean and tidy, as well as all workstations. Cleans and resets the bar and tables, making sure they are detailed and ready to welcome the next guest. Performs side work and checkout duties with detail and care. Relays communication between the kitchen and the rest of the service staff.

Job Qualifications

Willingness to work evenings and weekends. The ability to stay calm and work efficiently under pressure. The ability to prioritize job duties and manage time effectively. The physical ability to maintain proper balance and walk with purpose, while carrying dishes and trays of glassware, demonstrating energy and stamina throughout the entire shift.
