Work Schedule: Variable tour and shifts (To be discussed during selection process)
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

The Hospitalist is an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine trained physician who provides general medical care to hospital patients. Provides both clinical and administrative Hospital Medicine services at VA Northern California Health Care System. Works on various shifts including serving as Attending of Record for Academic Services, working with ER colleagues triaging patients, serving as Attending of Record on night shifts and working with NPs on our Non-Academic Attending Only service. Provider is expected to document into CPRS in a timely manner, participate in Process Improvement/Quality Assurance projects and participate in usual Medical Staff activity including committee participation.

Major duties include, but are not limited to:
Clinical -70%: Diagnose and treat various illnesses and diseases in a hospital. Examine patients as they're admitted. Coordinate care for hospitalized patients. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, lab work and x-rays.
Administrative -20%: Document all medical information in an electronic medical record. Participate in process improvement, quality assurance projects, and facility committees.
Other duties as assigned.
Education -10%: Instruct and educate residents/fellows/trainees

Comply with prescribed record keeping practices in accordance with the rules, regulations and bylaws.
Comply with prescribed information security policy and procedures.
Protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with the provision of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, Federal regulations, VA statutes and policy and VHA policy.
Interpersonal relationships - works effectively with patients, families, staff, coworkers and other health care professionals.
Participates in Medical Service educational activities and scheduled meetings.
Participates in research activities with regard to the subspecialty of Internal Medicine, as assigned.
Comply with assigned Peer Reviews and maintaining quality assurance standards.
Complete all assigned health record reviews, peer reviews, MAOs, etc., within the identified timeframes.
