Job Summary

The Director of Advanced Practice (AP) provides visionary and entrepreneurial leadership for the Surgery Functional Unit Advanced Practice including Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Nurse Midwives, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, and Nurses that are members of the AP team. Director serves as a member of the department leadership team, partnering to implement broad and proactive efforts to enhance the recruitment, clinical and professional development, and retention of the AP team. Director collaborates with the Surgery Functional Unit clinical and administrative leadership to identify opportunities for attracting and retaining talented Advanced Practice clinicians, participate in department quality, regulatory and patient experience committees. In addition, the director will provide mentorship and supervision of the identified service lead Advanced Practice (management). The Director will report to the Functional Unit Director or physician leader designee and to the Director of Nursing.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in a healthcare or related field from an accredited school. Doctorate preferred.
  • Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license required
  • Five years of clinical experience with an additional two years of experience designing, leading and/or managing Advanced Practice Providers at the department, hospital, or system level.
