Job Summary
The Davis College of Business and Technology at Jacksonville University invites applications for the faculty position of Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering (Clinical or Tenure Track) beginning Fall 2024. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching in an engineering program with a heavy design emphasis, especially in a laboratory setting. Teaching responsibilities include Electrical Engineering and Design related courses in the Jacksonville University Engineering programs. The teaching load is typically 12 credit hours per Fall and Spring semester.

Rank is open based on candidate credentials, experience and interest. For tenure-track position, engagement in research is required. Research involving undergraduates, engaged learning experiences with industry and /or public institutions, and pursuit of external funding are strongly encouraged. The individual hired for the position (regardless of rank) will also be responsible for student advising and mentorship, contributing to assessment of student learning outcomes, and engaging in other service activities.

It is expected that the individual chosen for this position will possess a commitment to teaching excellence, willingness to engage in the activities of the school/college, and a commitment to involvement in service that advances the university or the profession. Preference will be given to candidates with excellent communication and collaboration skills and a commitment to building a diverse and inclusive work and classroom environment.

Duties/Responsibilities
Teach classes—a typical l0ad is 24 hours annually
Engage in research/scholarship
Supervise student research projects
Supervise student internships
Participate in university service at the department, school, college, or university level
Participate in community service (optional)
Required Skills/Abilities
A strong commitment to effective teaching and the ability to integrate industry practices into the classroom.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
An ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and industry partners.
Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience
Tenure-track candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited program. A.B.D.'s with a clear plan for completion by December 2024 are encouraged to apply.
Non-Tenure track/clinical candidates should possess a Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited program. Substantial industry/government design experience in electrical engineering or a related discipline is preferred, especially in mechatronics.
Physical Requirements
Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and virtually.
Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
Stamina to teach up to 24 hours weekly.
