The Environmental and Sustainability Program department plays a critical role in the implementation of company-wide environmental compliance and sustainability efforts. Within the department, the Environmental Compliance Coordinator manages specific programs and supports strategic initiatives for the successful development, implementation, and execution of company-wide environmental compliance efforts. The Compliance Coordinator will work to achieve goals by which the integrity of Publix will be evaluated by customers, peers, and regulatory agencies.
 
What you’ll do
 
  • oversee day-to-day storage tank program compliance
  • coordinate grease program compliance including grease traps, underground grease interceptors, and yellow grease collection companywide through communication and interactions with regulatory agencies and authorities, along with internal departments
  • assist all levels of management with various tasks necessary to ensure Publix’s compliance with hazardous waste programs
  • support management with components of the Department of Transportation (DOT) program
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • at least three years of analytical and compliance support experience in an environmental compliance corporate, regulatory or consulting program
  • intermediate Microsoft Office skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and SharePoint
  • general knowledge of government agencies and how permitting and compliance programs work
  • ability to effectively manage workload, including analytical and organizational skills
  • ability to follow through, be accurate, and detail oriented
  • ability to be exposed to and handle highly confidential information
  • verbal and written communication skills
  • willingness to work a flexible schedule
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or analytical related field from an accredited college or university
  • five or more years of analytical and compliance support experience in an environmental compliance corporate, regulatory or consulting program
  • advanced Microsoft Office skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and SharePoint
  • general knowledge of all Publix operations, including retail, manufacturing, warehousing, and support
  • knowledge of Publix organizational and corporate structure
  • knowledge of Publix policies including code of ethics, philosophy, mission and vision
  • knowledge of Publix’s hazardous materials program, particularly related to management of hazardous waste and DOT regulated materials
