Area Director of Sales

• Lead the proactive sales effort for a growing portfolio of hotel assets
• Coordinate and strategize with assigned teams to maximize revenue and secure new account business
• Maintain existing account relationships
• Formulate sales and marketing strategies for assigned properties
• Collaborate with revenue management, and Hotel General Managers to maximize profitability of properties
• Set sales goals and develop plans for execution while maximizing profitability and maintaining guest satisfaction
• Own top accounts in each market, penetrate and saturate for new leads and business while maintaining existing relationships
• Qualify leads and prospects from cold calls, sales solicitation, blitzes, National Sales offices and other sources
• Work closely with the Hotel General Managers at assigned hotels to assist in capturing group business in all segments including corporate transient business
• Set sales strategies to achieve overall property goals for both rate and occupancy
• Develop and execute annual marketing plan addressing sales strategy and budget goals
• Understand hotel operations including room types, meeting capacities, service and features and benefits of assigned properties
• Solid knowledge of market conditions and competitors, economic trends and supply and demand
• Proactive solicitation of new business to achieve revenue goals
• Target accounts, markets or segments with proactive solicitation and account saturation
• Participate in local networking organizations, community, and industry events while representing the company in a professional mannerThe ideal candidate for this position
• Decision Making – Ability to independently gather information and take appropriate action.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Director of Revenue, General Managers and property associates. Also, able to work effectively across functions and cultures to achieve desired results.
• Planning/time management – Use an orderly method to establish work processes, anticipate problems and proactively seek solutions. Is organized and sets priorities to deliver on goals. Follows established training timelines and accomplishes all administrative tasks within required timeframes.
• Sense of Urgency – Have desire to identify opportunities for growth and act upon them in a timely fashion in order to obtain goals, improve overall operations and achieve desired results.
• Business Acumen – Ability to manage cost/financial controls in conjunction with service deliverables. Ability to analyze and interpret financial reports.
• Prior Hotel Sales Experience with proven track record, with a focus on select service / premium economy hotels
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively transfer information to wide range of audiences
• Knowledge of common hotel Property Management Systems and Sales Systems such as Delphi and Meeting Broker
• Must have reliable transportation for travel throughout the region; overnight stays may be required
