Serve as Clinical Nurse Officer In Charge (CNOIC) for overall management and control of nursing activities in the Neurology Service.
Supervise nursing staff, medical technicians, civilian neurology technicians, and clerical/administrative support staff. Develops performance plans and rates or reviews the employees.
Establish work schedules, assigning and prioritizing work, approving/disapproving leave, interviewing and selecting candidates and instruction to employees on technical work and administrative matters.
Establish, review, and update nursing policies and standard operating procedures. Oversees clinic personnel continuing education folders (CAF) for accuracy and updating appropriate training requirements.
Implement a multidisciplinary performance improvement program. Identifies and establishes prioritized aspects of care, develops indicators for monitoring, ensures collection of data, analyzes data, and implements corrective action.
Communicates with physician regarding determinations/situations and provides appropriate chart documentation. Screens patient chart to assess medical history to determine health care needs.
Execute physician's orders/coordinates with other providers.
Develop patient education programs for identified patient populations/families including curriculum development, scheduling, and coordination with other involved personnel.
Coordinate patient services between clinic and outpatient infusion, pharmacy, and social work service. Maintains collection of current referral sources for neurological disorders and refers patients as needed.
Perform independent review and research into current treatment practices in the community and utilizes this information to develop service protocols and Standard Operating Procedures for care of patients.
