Job Title: Research Nurse Supervisor

MD Anderson Center is seeking a highly skilled Research Nurse Supervisor to join our team in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology & Reproductive Medicine.

About the Role:

The Research Nurse Supervisor plays a critical role in advancing clinical research initiatives while directly impacting the lives of patients facing gynecologic cancers. As a Research Nurse Supervisor, you will spearhead protocol initiation and management, actively shape SOPs, workflows, and documentation practices, and provide training and mentorship to team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set goals with direct reports that are distinct from their position description, measurable, and add value to the employee and the department.
  • Revised position descriptions and review with direct reports annually.
  • Submit position descriptions for new hires, review resumes, and schedule panel interviews.
  • Distribute and collect interview evaluations and structured interview questions.
  • Organize orientation activities for new hires.
  • Schedule, coordinate, or conduct in-service training sessions for professional staff as needed.
  • Provide independent and advanced assessment of patients for protocol eligibility for assigned studies.
  • Responsible for assessing, coordinating, managing, and evaluating the care of patients on clinical trials.
  • Collaborate with physicians, mid-level practitioners, research nurses, and data managers to document patient care.
  • Follow patients on studies and maintain knowledge of adverse events.
  • Track protocol-related labs, responses, and research tests.
  • Collaborate with primary investigators and attending physicians regarding toxicity assessment and grading, treatment guidelines, and response assessments.
  • Responsible for the collection and recording of research data.
  • Collaborate with data manager to develop protocol-specific databases.
  • Participate in data analysis and quality assurance initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Four years of registered nursing experience, including one year of research nursing and one year of lead/mentor, project management, or supervisory experience.
  • Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.
  • Current State of Texas professional nursing license (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
