Join us as a Light Rail Vehicle Operator, and you’ll be looking at a career-defining role based in Camden, NJ.

 

To provide safe, reliable, and comftorable service to the public by operating scheduled and unscheduled Light Rail Vehicles in compliane with all Operating Rules, Safety Rules, Spectial Instructions and Operating Procedures. 

- Conducting, documenting, and reporting all required daily pre-trip and end of trip inspections/tests on their assigned Light Rail Vehicle 

- The safe operation of their assigned Light Rail Vehicle, including compliance with all signals, highway warning devices. speeds ad station stops.

- Making appropriate announcements and notifications to passengers while safely operating over the 34-mile alignment

- Being familiar with and keeping in their possession an itinerary of their assigned runs and monitoring and adhering to time schedules

- Acting as frontline point of contact with customers and being respectful and considerate in their behavior with passengers, complying with all      passenger relations procedures 

- Servicing LRVs, including fueling, sanding, washing, and inspecting, as well as troubleshooting of basic LRV mechanical issues

- Compliance with federal regulations, including requirements for certification and hours of service, drug & alcohol testing, and passing required examinations on rules, physical layout of the railroad, and train handling both prior to qualification and at 3-year intervals.

 

 

Competencies & Skills

  • Able to work evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
  • Comfortable making decisions in high pressure, time sensitive situations
  • Comfortable issuing instructions to employees of various crafts to allow for safe operation and maintenance activities
  • Required by federal regulation to undergo hearing and vision acuity testing under 49 CFR Part 240

Required by federal regulation to be subjected to a driving background check under 49 CFR Part 240; must be in possession of a valid driver’s license with three years clean driving experience
