Transportation Professional

The Camden City School District is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Transportation Professional to join our team. As a School Bus Operator, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school sites, as well as on school-sponsored field trips. This is a critical role that requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a school bus to transport students on a regularly scheduled route, to and from school sites during the school day, and on school-sponsored field trips.
- Assist in the boarding of passengers in wheelchairs and ensure that all passengers are safely secured in their seats.
- Perform daily safety and maintenance inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Clean and maintain the vehicle on a daily basis to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all passengers.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age and have a Commercial Driver's License issued by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements.
- Must have a driving record in good standing for the last 3 years and pass a required criminal history background check, physical, and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
- Ability to lift at least 20 lbs and perform light manual tasks as required by work assignment.
Core Competencies:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures governing the operation of school buses and trucks.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, establish and maintain effective working relationships, and communicate openly and work collaboratively with others.
Working Conditions:
- This is a 12-month, non-tenurable position with a salary range of $50,050 (starting salary). Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage (pending availability of funds and Superintendent's approval).
