Financial Empowerment Specialist

The Financial Empowerment Specialist is responsible for supporting Blaze Credit Union's vision to be the premier credit union provider of financial wellbeing and supporting financial wellbeing initiatives within our credit union, schools, partners, and communities we serve. This will be through efforts in the high school credit union branches, financial wellbeing presentations, reality fairs, community events, and work with the Blaze Credit Union Foundation.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with the AVP of Financial Empowerment to develop and evaluate effectiveness of the annual school branch financial wellbeing plan; reviews and modifies school branch financial wellbeing program as needed to ensure the success and goals of the program and credit union
- Work closely with the City of Saint Paul's Right Track Program in hiring student associates.
- Coordinates all school branch activities, train student associates, and assists student associates daily at school branches
- Assist with summer student internship program
- Assist with opening new student membership accounts and educate students on products and services
- Assists in school branch operations
- Works school branches during the school year
- Develop and deliver presentations, seminars, and webinars on financial wellbeing topics for you and adults
- Attend reality fairs, school branch activities, parent teacher conferences, open houses, and community events
- Monitor and research information regarding financial education resources and activities of credit union competitors
- Assist in preparation of financial education reporting
- Provide broad-based administrative support for the Blaze Foundation; tasks may include special project reports, documentation creation, general service support.
- Attend in-person functions and/or presentations at schools, district offices, or off-site locations along with afterhours events and weekend functions, as necessary
- Prepare educational materials such as modules, summaries, videos, etc.
- Ensure associates are provided with the training and tools to provide consistent and positive member interactions across all touchpoints
- Assists in the administration of Blaze's Learning Management System
- Assists in the development and maintenance of the Learning Service Center
- Obtain feedback on training methods and materials to iterate best practices
Other Duties
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control
- Exhibit Blaze's 5A culture - Ambassador, Achievement, Ambition, Ability and Attitude?
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned to support effective department operation
Job Requirements___________________________________________________
Experience/Education/Certifications/Licenses
- High School degree or equivalent
- 3 years of banking experience
Demonstrated Knowledge
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Familiarity with credit union products and services
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of meeting software, such as Zoom and Teams
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Ability to collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record
- Position requires travel. The extent of travel required will vary based on business needs but is estimated at 70% of the time
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule to include early mornings, evenings, and weekends
- Flexible in meeting changing needs of the organization and able to prioritize and manage multiple demands?
- Exceptional communication skills including facilitation
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit and stand; answer calls; operate computer; interact with internal staff and public on the phone; travel to designated offices; lift up to 20 lbs. Position requires 50% travel and will include car allowance.
