Supervisory Museum Specialist

The primary purpose of this position is responsibility for managing and implementing multi-generational programs, both onsite and online.This supervisory position focuses on designing interactive workshops, experiences, and festivals that engage visitors of different ages, with a focus on art making and interacting with artists. This position is in the Department of Public Programs of the National Gallery of Art’s Division of Learning and Engagement.
Duties
As the Supervisory Museum Specialist you will:
- Supervise Multi-generational programs staff as well as interns and contractors in developing program formats and schedules, designing content focused on art making, and promoting programs.
- Oversee program series for family, youth, and adult audiences such as First Saturdays, Drop-In Artmaking, Sketchbook Club, Storytime, and Virtual Studio.
- Coordinate cross-departmental teams responsible for producing large scale events including National Gallery Nights and Community Celebrations.
- Manage budget, supplies, and resources related to multi-generational programs.
- Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities that includes the planning of work to be accomplished; setting and adjusting priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work.
- Assign work based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty,requirements of assignments and capabilities of employees.
