Location: Portland, Oregon

Shift: Night Shift: 11 PM - 07:30 AM, Monday - Friday; rotating weekends

Pay: $20 - $36 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Specimen Evaluation: Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing based on established criteria.

  • Technical Procedures: Perform both routine and complex technical procedures according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Instrumentation: Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to ensure proper functionality and accurate results.

  • Technical Decision-Making: Make informed technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.

  • Reagent Preparation: Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls as needed.

  • Reporting: Deliver accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.

  • Maintenance and Quality Control: Conduct preventive maintenance and quality control procedures, and document all activities.

  • Supply Management: Identify, replenish, and manage testing bench supplies as required.

  • Specimen Processing: Assist with specimen processing when necessary.

  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to all safety protocols and personal protective equipment requirements.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory CLIA State requirements.

  • Experience: Minimum 2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience required.

  • Licensing/Certification: State Medical Technologist license may be required (will be specified if needed). ASCP or AMT certification preferred or required (eligible candidates must obtain certification within 6 months).
