We are committed to being a great place to work by focusing on hiring, training, and promoting talented, dedicated, passionate individuals who want to get better every day. POSITION SUMMARY: USYS is seeking an experienced controller who is responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, ensuring proper accounting control procedures are being adhere to across the organization and working with external auditors. The duties will include managing, training, and supervising team members in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Expense Reporting, and Fixed Assets. This person will work closely with each department manager to identify areas to reduce costs and liabilities and ensure that USYS complies with financial regulations. The Controller will analyze financial statements for trends and document variances to budget. The USYS Controller will report to the CFO. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establish (in coordination with CFO) financial and operational KPIs, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Implement and maintain consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs and safeguard organizational assets.
  • Manage all aspects of the annual financial audit, Form 990 filings and grant reports.
  • Manage business license renewals, state registrations, and property tax returns.
  • Manage, monitor, and review monthly accounting close process to ensure timely and accurate records are produced and maintained.
  • Oversee and support the accounting team with effective leadership skills that creates trust and fosters productivity.
  • Prepare financial documents such as business reports, financial forecasts, and statements to understand the financial state of our business and of our 54 State Associations.
  • Support the CFO in managing banking operations and cash management.
  • Proactively improve the accounting and automation process by leveraging AI technology and increasing utilization of current ERP’s functions.
  • Understand the USYS financial status to meet legal requirements and keep our financial state in good standing.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the CFO.
 QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: •         Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related required.•         CPA certification is preferred.•         Five or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting manager.•         Must possess a proficient understanding of US GAAP.•         Strong math skills to make accurate calculations and estimates.•         Strong organization and project management experience. PREFFERED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/JOB QUALIFICATIONS:•         Experience presenting to senior leadership.•         Good understanding of non-profit and sport finance is preferred.•         High attention to detail.•         Positive attitude and strong work ethic. •         Proficiency with Microsoft products. •         Sage Intaact experience a plus.•         Speaks clearly and persuasively; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions.•         Strong leadership and supervisory skills.•         Strong organizational and time management skills.•         Willingness to ask questions, give and accept advice, and take direction.•         Works within an approved budget while conserving organizational resources. •         Writes clearly and informatively; Presents numerical data effectively. TO APPLY: This is a full time, exempt position, based in Frisco, TX. US Youth Soccer is a non-profit organization.
