The duties and responsibilities for the Museum Curator generally include, but are not limited to, the following:
Serve as expert authority on all matters regarding collection management, acquisition, accountability, valuation, documentation, preservation, display, loan, and disposition of artifacts (objects and art) of historical significance.
Assists in the organization and management and use of artifacts for exhibits, interpretation, research, archives, and DOJ history and heritage education, training, and outreach.
Coordinates the presentation of museum exhibits and displays.
Helps determine and develop museum policies and procedures as well as short- and long-range plans for the expansion, improvement, and security of the museum collection.
Assists other museum staff, interns, and volunteers with operational and special duties; arranges and conducts tours of the museum and collection for visitors; and helps develop impactful programming and educational materials relating to the museum, its collection, and DOJ history for use in professional development, education, and public engagement activities.
