USA Lacrosse is looking for a fall/winter Intern to join our Social Media team; this will be an unpaid/for credit internship.  If you are currently pursuing your bachelorâs degree and would like to jumpstart your career by gaining hands-on experience to learn about social media and marketing this could be an excellent opportunity for you.  Our internship program will allow you to learn from professionals in your field of study, understand their "why," work on projects where you can learn about multiple aspects of everyday business, and learn how to collaborate cross-departmentally in a fun, team-oriented environment.  You get to work closely with the Social Media Manager and the marketing and communications team to grow USA Lacrosse's presence across all social media channels and support marketing and content initiatives.   If you are an enthusiastic and passionate student looking to enter the sports marketing industry and want to learn from talented and driven professionals for a mission-based organization, keep reading.   A Typical Day Looks Likeâ¦
Essential Functions
  • Assists with social content ideation, creation, and copywriting on all social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube).
  • Assists with real time coverage during local events.
  • Assists with engagement across all social platforms to help drive audience growth. 
  • Researches trends and topics in the sports and entertainment industry to create content that fits within our strategy and offer recommendations.
  • Supports the marketing and communications team with campaign ideations and execution, website content migration, and data asset management platform content categorizing.

  • Report to work each day you are scheduled on time, presenting yourself in a professional manner though your appearance and interactions with others. 
  • Ask questions to help you learn and understand not only what you are doing, but why you are doing It.  
  • Complete a "final report" about your internship experience to Include:
      o   What did you learn about USAL.       o   What did you learn about your field of study and the responsibilities of the department you worked in.         o   Explain your roles and responsibilities and talk about any project(s) you did.         o   Reflect on skills and work habits you learned that you will take with you as you start your career.        o   Reflect on skills and work habits you learned that you will not be taking with you as you start your career.     Is This Youâ¦

  • Current college student working toward a Bachelor's degree.   
  • Previous working experience in social media/sports in some capacity.  Lacrosse or other sport experience beneficial.    
  • Must have an understanding of social media platforms, their unique audiences, and how to use them to maximize engagement efforts. 
  • Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for social media and marketing. 
  • Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.  
  • Enthusiastic go-getter with a âroll up your sleevesâ and âget it doneâ attitude. 
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, follow up/through skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.  
  • Strong communication skills, including interpersonal, verbal and written. 
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.  Must possess a strong âcustomer firstâ attitude.     
  • Ability to exercise the appropriate level of discretion and judgment with the capability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information and materials.   
  • Ability to present a professional persona and presence to build relationships and establish credibility.   
  • Ability to be flexible with your work schedule, including the ability to work some nights and weekends based on event schedules.   
  • Willingness to learn about the sport of lacrosse and appreciate the need to develop and fuel the growth of the sport with diversity, inclusion, and equity in mind.

 Expected Hours of Work
This position works from our headquarters office in Sparks, MD and is generally expected to work during the week (Monday through Friday) between the hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm.  You may be required to occasionally work longer hours or weekends based on our events and other business needs.  This position will between 20 and 30 hours per week.  Please note, we are unable to offer housing with our internships so you will have to have your own local housing and transportation.       EEO Statement
