Vice President, Business Development

As the Vice President of Business Development at Design Miami, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and expansion of a global, Miami-based company. Candidates for this position should have a proven track record of securing global partnerships with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of brands in the luxury fashion, technology, automotive and lifestyle sectors. The ideal candidate will come to the position with an existing roster of industry contacts and will have extensive experience initiating new conversations with prospective partners and securing new strategic business opportunities. The VP of Business Development will work closely with Design Miami’s CEO as well as the VP of Marketing to set targets, develop a pipeline of prospects, and secure global contracts across all of Design Miami’s flagship fairs.

Core Responsibilities:
● Strategic Planning: develop partnerships acquisition strategy aligned with company’s objectives and targets

● Partnership Development: build pipeline of new business opportunities, secure global contracts with luxury brands, achieve/exceed revenue targets, manage partner relationships

● Product / Service Expansion: identify new sellable opportunities across flagship fairs and work with VP of Marketing to create effective pitches, and develop impactful assets illustrating the opportunities

● Pursuing Leads: work closely with the CEO to follow-up on leads generated by DM’s executive team; develop pitches, create proposals, drive communication efforts, draft contracts, close deals

● Contract Negotiation: negotiate contracts ensuring clear and favorable terms

● Market Analysis: identify emerging opportunities and stay tuned into competitor activities and market shifts

● Budget Management: track progress against revenue targets, provide regular forecast updates, plan payment timelines, monitor partner payments and follow up when necessary

● Reporting and Analysis: consistently report status of partner prospecting and contracts with leadership and forecast anticipated partner revenue

Requirements:
● Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field

● Proven track record of at least 10 years in partnerships, business development and leadership

● Deep industry knowledge and an extensive network of industry contacts in luxury space

● Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

● Results-oriented mindset, with a demonstrated ability to work against and exceed revenue targets

● Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends and to travel as required
