Job Description

Reporting to the HR Manager – People Relations & Talent Acquisition, this generalist advisory position is an instrumental part of the HR People Services team. The People Services team provides shared operational and advisory support to the business and to colleagues across the People Function, providing the foundations of HR throughout the employee lifecycle. The HR Advisor will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring, interviewing, onboarding, and offboarding staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, employee relations, investigations, and enforcing company policies and practices within the US across the business units.

The HR Advisor plays a vital role in the HR (People Services) function, providing key services to the business and the broader People function and offering impeccable employee experience across all People processes and services, with an aim to make the lives of those we work with brilliant. The purpose of this role is to deliver professional HR (People Relations) Advisory support within the business, actively manage issues as they arise, take ownership of the employee life cycle and be the first line of advice to the business areas in your remit. You will play an active role in creating an energizing and cohesive workplace environment, actively flagging opportunities to improve processes and business outcomes, while ensuring De Beers Group operates within the legal requirements but also in the spirit of the brand.

This position requires a detail-oriented, resourceful, and reliable individual who can work in a fluid environment while managing multiple priorities. You will have proven experience of building strong working relationships and providing advice on any organizational change, employee relations and people related issues, including matters relating to employment, compensation and benefits and first line employee relations.

The position is based in Stamford, Connecticut. The Stamford office currently works a hybrid schedule (3 days a week in the office; 2 days a week working from home).

Primary Responsibilities:

Providing operational HR (People) support by giving first level advice to managers and employees on key people management/HR processes and policies, responding to HR queries, completing HR forms accurately and timely for processing, problem solving where needed and triaging more complex matters as necessary, and providing excellent and timely customer service Manage benefit changes and day-to-day administration of employee benefits program including but not limited to health insurance, retirement plans, workers compensation, leaves, and voluntary benefits Monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of HR policies, procedures and programs, staying current with local legislation and researching, recommending, drafting and implementing new or updated as needed, to strive for excellent compliance standards Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance Actively supporting relevant People agenda projects (culture, behavior, organizational change, I&D), champion Team + behaviors and work with peers from across the business to deliver against measurable outcomes while helping to mitigate associated risks. Interfacing with the wider HR (People Service and People Partner) team, sharing business updates to ensure a smooth operating rhythm meets the needs of the business area, working closely with People leaders to maintain effective and efficient service Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Working with payroll within the bi-weekly payroll processing deadlines and follow up on outstanding time approvals Processes invoices and taxes related to HR related items and collaborate with finance and payroll team when needed Supporting and driving change management implementations and People initiatives, collaborating with the relevant People Partners and senior sponsors to assure a compliant and risk mitigated process that delivers effectively on business requirements. Consulting with Supervisors, People Partner and Managers regarding employee performance and capability issues and drafting performance management related documents to support the process for Brands and Consumer Markets {DBJ, Forevermark, Lightbox, and Category} Support Line Leaders with updating job descriptions and partnering with People Partner and Reward team to confirm grading and banding for positions Manages full life cycle of employee including overseeing recruiting, creating offer letters, conducting background checks, employee eligibility verifications, exit interviews and terminations. Strategic partnership with benefit and policy brokers to maximize solutions and employee experience Performs other duties as assigned.

The base salary range $70,000 to mid $86,000K USD per annum.



Qualifications:
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in human resources, business, or related field. A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of HR related experience in a similar HR Advisor role, offering first line People/Employee Relations advice. Team player with the ability to deliver quality customer service to all levels within the organization. Detailed and highly organized, analytical, with strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in handling confidential materials and matters. Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams. Strong time management skills to deal with multiple time sensitive issues, a self-starter and the ability and flexibility to work in a lean, fast-paced, dynamic work environment, requiring constant prioritization of work; and Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and maintenance of confidential matters. Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. Experience working with payroll and benefit systems. Experience with benefits and payroll are a plus.
