We are seeking a professional responsible for providing leadership, direction, and focus for all Environmental activities at the Geismar site. The Environmental Manager oversees the team of Environmental Specialists supporting the Geismar and North Geismar sites ensuring consistent risk interpretations and implementation of all Regulatory and BASF requirements and programs. The Environmental Manager is a member of the local EHS leadership team and continuously collaborates and partners with Global, North American, and local teams regarding EHS culture, regulations, compliance, and best practice.

  • Maintaining Environmental expertise with regards to BASF, federal, state, or provincial requirements that could impact the operations of BASF or its customers and partners across North America.
  • Serves as the Process Owner for site Environmental Work and Standard Processes which should be in alignment with all Responsible Care, Environmental North American and COR requirements.
  • Develop, initiate, and ensure effectiveness of Environmental improvement programs and training to ensure the design, construction, and operation of safe and compliant facilities and to reduce the risk of incidents to people and the environment.
  • Responsible to track the development, issuance, and follow up for effectiveness of federal and state or provincial regulations and develop strategies to ensure compliance of regulations.
  • Responsible to develop and issue internal and external reports regarding BASF Environmental performance.
  • Partnering with the site to continuously improve the culture and overall EHS performance proactively, to provide transparency regarding status and development versus targets, and to analyze potential gaps and prepare and implement necessary changes.
  • Maintaining effective relationships and partnerships with Geismar Leadership Teams, Operational/Technical/Functional units, and the appropriate Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies.

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Science is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience regulatory, technical, implementation of Environmental programs, required
  • 3 or more years experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment, and leadership experience, required
  • Extensive Environmental regulatory and technical expertise, required
  • Knowledge of Title V Air Permits and regulatory programs/policies including MACT, RCRA, NPDES, PSD, NAAQS and Non-Attainment air policies is needed
