Key Responsibilities:

United Digital Technology is seeking to hire a Senior Manager to lead Digital Payments team within our Digital Retail organization.

The Digital Payments team is responsible for driving operational excellence in onboarding and management of all types of customer payments as part of our commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience.

This team is responsible for payment provider integrations, from traditional credit card providers to multiple alternate forms of payment, designing and maintaining compensating mechanisms that ensure 24x7 service.

The Digital Payments team drives the strategy and implementation for customer-friendly travel credit options, an exciting and evolving space in Airline Digital Retail. This team stays on the forefront of customer innovation by enabling capabilities such as Alternate/Local Forms of Payments, Blockchain ledger, and the Payment Transformation Strategy

As a leader of this team, you will manage 15+ analyst, architects, and engineers to support payments, fraud prevention, travel credits platforms, and related enterprise initiatives. You must be capable of helping to define a vision and possess the drive that transforms the vision to reality. In this role you will work with external vendor partners, internal business partners, and collaborators across United Airlines including Security, Operations and Product. The ideal candidate has a solid history of managing technical teams and is a motivated self-starter that can work independently in a fast- paced environment with limited supervision.

Payments Modernization Roadmap Delivery

  • Lead activities to focus on modernizing Payments with innovative architectures, data analytics, and digital solutions to support the program needs
  • Collaborate with product and architecture teams to design, develop, deploy and support new Payments modernization applications
  • Oversee and lead modernization projects to ensure delivery of work requests and projects are within committed budget, on schedule, and the quality of individual projects meets the overall program performance goals
  • Manage development and application critical metrics, take corrective actions where necessary proper documentation of applications and implement continuous improvements

Development Standards, Tools & Architecture

  • Ensure IT application development process disciplines (solution delivery, project management, work requests, QA, etc.) and standards are established, effectively managed and performed
  • Play a key role in formulating and following the procedures and processes for development
  • Play a key role with the formation of agile delivery teams for development and technology delivery
  • Create a team structure and process for quality control during development, testing for debugging code and deployment
  • Remain informed of new technologies and/or business processes and incorporating those technologies to improve the productivity of the applications staff and software systems' maintainability
  • Drive continuous improvement and be adaptable to changing designs and to adding performance enhancements

Leadership

  • Lead a multi-functional impactful team responsible for designing, developing, and maintains cloud based Payment Modernization applications.
  • Manage vendor development teams assigned to projects and core support
  • Foster professional development and energy in the team
  • Establish department and individual goals
  • Assess and recommend improvements to the organization structure, roles and responsibilities
  • Participate actively in future strategy, goals, objectives, and operational performance
  • Create and maintain a dedication by interacting and mentoring junior and senior level developers
  • Perform short and long term resources planning to ensure the proper number of resources and right skills are available to meet project goals and schedules
  • Use creative and proactive leadership skills to address project challenges and opportunities
Maintenance & Support of Payment Production Applications
  • Prioritize and direct the work of hard-working team of engineers
  • Drive large scale initiative to improve customer payment experience
  • Identify and remediate operational gaps in existing payment products and new offereings
  • Manage relationships with internal business partners and external vendor partners
  • You will be expected to dive deep in all areas of your team

QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems or other related field
  • 10+ years of payments related work experience
  • 5+ years of application development and/or data engineering development
  • 5+ years of airline or retail payment experience
  • Cloud experience
  • At least 2-4 years of leadership experience in managing multiple, large, multi-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior level management and key partners
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft .NET Framework, Microsoft NET Core, SQL, NoSQL and Design Patterns
  • Strong project organizations skill, including prioritization, planning and organization
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Master's degree in Computer Science
  • Card Present and Card Not Present Payments applications background specifically preferred.
  • Experience in large application modernization projects
  • AWS disciplines
  • .NET and AWS highly preferred
  • Airline Passenger Service Systems development and support
