New York City, United States Joan and Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University Full time

The Division of Infectious Diseases of the Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center (NYP-WC) are recruiting for the position of Chief Hospital Epidemiologist at NYP-WC and Deputy Medical Director for the Department of Infection Prevention & Control (IP&C) for NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYPH). NYP-WC, one of the 8 NYPH hospitals, is an 862-bed academic, tertiary care hospital located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. It is the primary teaching hospital for Weill Cornell Medicine. NYPH is a 3,457-bed, 8-hospital health system in New York City and Westchester County, NY. that employs 21,483 staff with 7,063 active physicians and 4,500 nursing staff.

As the Chief Hospital Epidemiologist at NYP/WC, the candidate will help provide oversight to the hospital’s IP&C team, which includes 3 other hospital epidemiologists and 7 infection preventionists (IPs), in all realms of infection prevention. This may include providing mentorship and education to junior hospital epidemiologists. The candidate may also be involved in providing IP&C- and antimicrobial stewardship-related education to medical students, residents, fellows, faculty, and other providers.

As the NYPH Deputy Medical Director for IP&C, the candidate will work closely with the IP&C Medical Director, Nursing Director, and Director of Quality & Patient Safety to provide guidance and oversight for the IP&C department, with its 16 hospital epidemiologists and 31 IPs, as well as help develop IP&C-related policies, procedures, and initiatives for NYPH. There are ample opportunities for cross-campus collaborative research projects as well.

In addition to active participation in the Infection Prevention and Control activities of the hospital, the candidate will also participate in the teaching and research activities of the Infectious Diseases Division, attend on the inpatient Infectious Diseases consultation service and other patient care activities as needed, and participate in and further develop the healthcare-associated infection research program within the Division. This position thus offers substantial opportunities for growth, leadership, and academic advancement within Infectious Diseases and healthcare epidemiology.

The individual should qualify for an academic appointment at Weill Cornell Medicine at the level of Associate Professor or Professor. Additional requirements include eligibility for a New York State medical license, Board Certification in Infectious Diseases and formal training in infection control with experience.

Candidates should submit a letter of interest and curriculum vitae to:
